New Education Policy

After the approval of the Cabinet of the Central Government proposed by the Government of India, a new education policy has been implemented in the country after 36 years. The Cabinet has given the green signal to the new education policy (New Education Policy 2023). The education policy has been changed after 34 years. The significant points of the new education policy are as follows.

Five years basic

     1. Nursery @ 4 years

     2. Junior KG @ 5 years

     3. Sr KG @ 6 years

     4. Std 1st @ 7 years

     5. Std 2nd @ 8 years

Three years preparation

     6. Std 3rd @ 9 years

     7. Std 4th @ 10 years

     8. Std 5th @ 11 years

Three years middle     

     9. Std 6th @ 12 years

      10. Std 7th @ 13 years

      11. Std 8th @ 14 years

Four years secondary

      12. Std 9th @ 15 years

      13. Std SSC @ 16 years

      14. Std FYJC @ 17 years

      15. Std SYJC @ 18 years

# Board will be taken only in Std 12

* MPhil will be discontinued, college degree will be 4 years.

* The 10th session is over.

* Now students up to class 5 will be taught in their mother tongue, local language and national language only. The remaining subjects, even if it is English, will be taught as one subject.

* Earlier, it was mandatory to take the 10th board exam, which is no longer the case.

* The exam will be conducted in the semesters from 9th to 12th standard. School education will be taught under the 5+3+3+4 formula.

* College degrees will be of 3 and 4 years. That is, you will get a certificate in the first year of graduation, a diploma in the second year and a degree in the third year.

* A 3-year degree is for students who do not want to pursue higher education. While students pursuing higher education will have to do a 4-year degree. Students pursuing a 4-year degree will be able to do an MA in one year.

* MA students will now be able to do PHD directly.

* Students will be able to do other courses in between. The gross enrollment ratio in higher education will be 50 percent by 2035. Under the new education policy, if a student wants to do another course in between one course, he can take a break from the first course for a limited time and do the second course.

* Many reforms have also been made in higher education. The reforms include classified academic, administrative and financial autonomy etc. Apart from this, e-courses will also be started in regional languages. Virtual labs will be developed. National Educational Scientific Forum (NETF) will be started. Let us tell you that there are 45 thousand colleges in the country.

* There will be similar rules for all institutions, government, private and deemed.
